POGAN PAGAN, press release

The successful collaboration between Srđan Janićijević (theatre director and composer) and Nadežda Petrovska (opera soprano vocalist) on his Good Old-Fashioned Future debut album (released 2004 for MarGiNa) developed into Pogan Pagan – music and performing art band.

It all started with the rumors about one diplomat and 14-year-old girl founded naked and bleed to death in his hotel apartment, he shared with some non-government occultist, while they’ve been on some symposium somewhere in Central Eastern Europe. Of course this incident was suppressed, but the myth was intriguing for Pogan Pagan.

They define their music as Psychedelic Pop (Britney Spears meets The Residents) therefore Pogan Pagan is a concept for mockery and desecration of:

  • Politics, both left and right wing,
  • Religion and Atheism
  • Art and pop culture
  • Cultural bureaucracy and subculture,
  • Globalisation and anti-globalisation, and

with all the sociological contemporary myths we’re addicted on them in an absence of the immanent sexuality. Matriarchate is coming back. That’s not wrong, on the contrary, but we have to foresee it.

Pogan Pagan collaborates with artists of different medias: Hank Baker - DIE (Digital Independent Experiment) bass, vocal & lyrics USA, Dragor Pima Seth Stat percussions MK, Jelena Mijatović – actress & MC MK, Lydia Georgieva - fashion designer FR, Kire Galevski – photographer & video MK. Dejan Spasovic - Kaldrma kemane MK
